ABOUT

Dance Mama Live and Dance Mama Live: Back On The Road is a unique suite of specialist webinars and workshops with national dance organisations and world-class experts to help parents in dance keep moving their worlds.
How it started
Our Founder, Lucy, noticed that when she became a parent there was little-no provision for parents in dance to learn about, discuss, explore or be inspired by about being a parent in dance. A live, interactive element that could be accessible remotely and after the event was always an important feature to her when designing Dance Mama's suite of support, and she tested this idea successfully as a pilot with Sadler's Wells in 2019. This method removes some of the major barriers parents in dance face (childcare, transport, time flexibility and expertise) when wishing to access professional development.
At the height of the Global Pandemic, Dance Mama (supported by Arts Council England) delivered its first 10-month season of online webinars and workshops with One Dance UK, Sadler's Wells, Yorkshire Dance and Clearcut. Lucy outlines this story and the success of the programme in her TEDx talk.
Season 1 can be access for FREE when you subscribe as a Bronze level member.
How its going
It returned for Season 2 in 2022/23 (supported again by Arts Council England). This time, 10 national dance organisations brought their own flavour to this incredible programme through the creative dance workshops and webinars from experts at the forefront of progress for parents who move from the arts, sport, medicine, psychology, advocacy and more to keep participants dance passion alive, their bodies moving and their careers on track.
National partners include; Sadler’s Wells (London), One Dance UK (National), Fabric (Birmingham and Nottingham), Dance City (Newcastle-Upon-Tyne), Company Chameleon (Manchester), Dance East (Ipswich), Swindon Dance, East London Dance and Cscape/Hall for Cornwall.
